Christmas Decorating and French Toast

Happy Saturday Morning! Officially 20 days until Christmas, I just cannot believe it! I have started to get together my list of ingredients that I will need to make my holiday cookies. Last year I made a ridiculous amount of cookies on a snowy day and I think I want to follow suit this year. I like to make cookies and put them in tins and give them to various people. Yesterday I went to the dollar store and picked up a bunch of tins and platters that have holiday decorations on them. How can you beat a dollar????

I don't know everything I am making, but I am thinking so far I am going to do:
Lace cookies
Espresso brownies
Layer cookies (I have my grandmas forever old recipe)
Chocolate Chip Hazelnut cookies
And I have a couple more...then we'll make bow, butter cookies and some other things at my mom's house. LOVE this time of year!
We don't have too much planned for this weekend, but we are definitly getting a tree. I have put a couple of things around our apartment...and the table below is completely Christmas-y. I need to get candles for that big reindeer in the back right. Those are my birthday cards on the right (I have such amazing family and friends and co-workers :))...they will be taken down soon...even though I could keep them up forever. :)
This morning we decided to have some french toast since we still have bread in the freezer (leftover from Thanksgiving.)
We used:
4 pieces of thick whole wheat bread
2 eggs
2 egg whites
1/2 cup skim milk
1 tsp vanilla
a sprinkle of nutmeg (or you can use cinnamon)
Soak it in the egg mixture. Put it on a griddle and cook it so it browns on both sides. Yum. We enjoyed it with cut up bananas, strawberries and some maple syrup. :)
(andddd of course...coffee.)
Today we are going into the city to walk around and maybe see the tree and then going out to dinner with some of our friends. Tomorrow, it is tree time. WOOHOO!
