Good morning! We are waking up in good ol' Lancaster, PA. We came down last night to see Danny's parents for the night.
On Thursday we had a very exciting delivery. We started ordering from a CSA that delivers. I decided to order a big box since we go through a lot of produce in a week. The box was FILLED with healthy goodies. We wanted to do a CSA because we wanted to buy more organic produce and to buy from a local farm. Unfortunately after opening the box we realized it wasn't local (not rocket science, the stickers said Mexico). I was kind of bummed because wanted to do a CSA for the local aspect of it so we might change. It does work out money wise because we would DEFINITELY be spending more than $45.00 if we were buying all organic foods. So we are spending less, getting it delivered and it's ALL organic! It's good for now, but I might look into changing. Our 1st choice was sold out so we couldn't go with that one in Forest Hills, but they recommended this particular one.
Organic romaine and swiss chard. Good thing I tried swiss chard last week and know I like it!
Bananas, eggplant, zucchini, oranges, kiwi, potatoes, lemons
I should have took a pictures of my fridge after I put everything away. It is packed. All I had to do was pick up some apples and carrots at the Trader Joe's and $60 worth of other things that I may or may not have needed.
When I went to my mom's house the other day to enjoy some outside reading, her Jack LaLanne juicer was calling my mom. My mom was super nice to let me have borrow it for awhile. When I got home I twittered my fellow bloggies and asked what I should put in my first juice. I decided to go with the following:
1 carrots, 1/2 lemon and 1 apple. I also put in some spinach but it was kind of a fail. I twittered again and got some great advice that I needed to use adult spinach and not baby spinach because it goes right through. YUM. I threw some ice in there and then finished it in a couple of sips. I love that I can just twitter a message or question and I get back so many thoughtful responses. This is why I LOVE food blogging, I learn SO much from all of you! Thank you to everyone who helped me out with my first juicing experience! I even made the same thing for Danny when he got home and didn't tell him what was in it and he also LOVED it.
Danny came home early and we went for a great run on Thursday. It was SO nice for him to actually be home in the daylight hours and to be able to do something at night. I put some pizza dough in the bread maker so it would be done when we got back from our run. I decided to make a new combo of flours, I used: 1 cup millet flour, 1 cup spelt flour, 1.5 cup whole wheat flour and .5 cup bread flour. I was a little nervous because I haven't done anything with millet flour yet, but it turned out PERFECT!
1/2 mozzarella cheese, 1/2 all veges: zucchini, mushrooms, red pepper and red onion
another YUM
pizza and some baked veges. I had about 2 more slices of this...
pizza and warm bread are my weaknesses!
We are off to buy some items to make some muffins for his parents and get some other things so we can cook dinner from them.
Have a great weekend!

Have fun in PA! I really want to join Boston Organics so that I can get veggies delivered too :)
And my fave juice, FYI, is apple, carrot, ginger, cucumber. Yum!
Have fun in PA!!!
oh the pizza and CSA delivery look great!
fantastic looking veg! I once got our local organic delivery but it was of very hit and miss quality - that looks fab. Pizza looks delish too.
Enjoy the juicer! The combinations are endless.
That is an amazing looking CSA box! My MIL lives in PA, but nowhere near lancaster.
I LOVE getting mail so much that I don't mind junk mail (...no I don't sign up for it...um...) but you got the best thing in your mailbox ever!

I totally think it is so awesome to order your produce! I do dislike that so many of the items are from Mexico right now....I would prefer if they came locally or from my own backyard ;)
The only reason I have not ordered a box yet is because I would go through the little amount of apples and bananas they gave me in 2 days!
Mmmm I need a juicer!!!
XXOO
hey girl LOVE The csa box. I used to have a box and it was $25-30 per week but it was a "small" box with 10-14 items, and the large box was like 15-20 items. the small box was still huge! We just cant/didnt go thru THAT much food in a week to even think about the large one. So the $30 was perfect for us...but we had to pick it up about 2 miles from our house, not a biggie but delivery is def worth something! that sucks that it's not local. wtf?? CSA = COMMUNITY...supp ag. I mean how can they call it a csa with mexico food?!
glad the cookie dough balls were a hit!
