Not Brownie Cookies

Good morning! I'm finally back to posting in the mornings, which I like best. I'm kind of a creature of habit and I hate changing things if I don't really have to. Are you all like that, or am I the only one??

Danny asked me to make him dessert. A couple of weeks ago I made brownies from Michelle at Brown Eyed Baker. I brought him to her site and told him to find them.  When I was done making the batter I said to him, this doesn't seem the exact same as the last time, when he informed me we were making cookies and not brownies. I don't even know what I'm baking apparently, I just follow the directions and go on auto pilot. Well Danny wanted to attempt making brownies out of this batter, but Michelle always makes incredible desserts, so why would I mess with her recipe??

Since I thought I was making the same brownies, I didn't really take any pictures. Ooops.

Thick and Chewy Triple-Chocolate Cookies
Ingredients:
2 cups  all-purpose flour
½ cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 bag semisweet chocolate chips
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1¼ sticks unsalted butter, softened
1½ cups packed  light brown sugar
½ cup  sugar
12 ounces (about 2 cups) semisweet chocolate chips
1. Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees. Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
2. Melt the chocolate (I melt the chocolate in the microwave.) In a small bowl, beat the eggs and vanilla.
3. Beat the butter at medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 5 seconds. Beat in the sugars until combined.  Reduce the speed to low and gradually beat in the egg mixture until well mixed together. Add the chocolate in a steadily and beat until combined, about 40 seconds. Scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl wit a rubber spatula. With the mixer at low speed, add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overbeat. Fold in the chocolate chips.
4.  Scoop the dough onto the non stick baking sheets, spacing the mounds of dough about 1½ inches apart.
5. Bake for about 10 minutes, the edges of the cookies will be set, but the centers will be very soft. Cool the cookies on the sheets about 10 minutes, put the cookies onto wire racks, and cool to room temperature.
Yes, these cookies are as good as they look.
I'm off to be a teacher! Have a great day!

haha - okay, let me just say that I love the story that went along with this. That is too funny...and totally something I would do, too. Just kinda think "huh...that's funny..." :P
They look great, though! Glad you both enjoyed :) And I'm a creature of habit, too. Sometimes I feel like I should mi it up...but then I figure hey - I'm in the habit because it's what works best for me...so why should I change it? (when I eat, when I blog, when I do this, that, etc)
Have a great day!

LOL on the cookie vs brownie issue...that's why my desserts are raw...if i "mess up" i just add more dates, cocoa powder, or agave and correct it LOL

thx for your sweet comment, i am super passionate and i do wear my heart on my sleeve and blog from the heart, thank you for noticing and saying so :)
