This morning Danny and I got up and ran. We have a race on Saturday in Central Park, the Healthy Kidney 10k. So to try and get ready for the run we are running today, Thursday and taking Friday off before the race. I'll probably do some light yoga Friday morning, instead of going to spin. I don't want my legs to be tired at all! The last 10k we did was in the fall and we came in under 1 hour. I don't have a goal time, but I'd like it to be under an hour..if not...no big deal.
On another note, with all this yoga talk going on, I finally got a picture snapped of crow pose. I made Danny take it while I was getting ready for my yoga pose May post.
not bad right? (No one can tell that I literally fell over after this.
This was the longest I ever held and then down I went.)
I feel like I have been very snacky lately and I've been trying to be creative with my snacks. I thought it may be interesting to some (if not sorry!) to post all of the things I snack on throughout the day. (Usually not all of these things in one day, but sometimes!)
Personally I think I eat a whole lot of fruits and vegetables. Those are definitely the main things I eat throughout the day. Second would probably be hummus. I think I'm addicted.
Here are some snacks I eat/drink.
Juice: Usually consists of some/or all of: beets, carrots, apples, pears, lemon, ginger, spinach
Muffins - basically another obsession
homemade granola bars. I may have to stop making these because I eat these in huge chunks.
chocolate chip scones..warmed up in the microwave.
raw chocolate balls, tastes just like cookie dough
hummus with carrots, celery or Mary's Gone Crackers
These are a new fav of mine, Trader Joe's Savory Thin Mini Edamame Crackers (made with brown rice)
On another note, my new vegetable obsession is brussel sprouts. I roast them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 40-45 minutes. I toss them with olive oil, sea salt and pepper before they go in the oven.
What are your favorite snacks? Are you running or competing in any races coming up??
Have a great day!

great to know about those crackers from TJ's! I've never seen them before!
Loved seeing your snacks - I feel like mine have gotten so boring lately! I agree that a good homemade baked good is the way to go, though :) I've been loving pretzels lately, too! And always cottage cheese or greek yogurt.
And holy cow, the crow pose looks crazy! Excited for your race!!
I took yoga lessons too and I am not able to do that! It really isn't easy. I tumble all the time XD
I think granola bars are pretty addictive. You wouldn't even know when they are gone :P
My snacks are really boring, I mostly snack on Fruit and Yogurt.
When I feel like something salty and crunchy then I reach for the Salsa and Nachos.
WOW, great crow pose!!
Have fun on Saturday!
I am all over hummus with veggies!!
Look at you rockin' the crow pose. I am working and working and working on it. I WILL get it.
Hummus is an addiction for me! I just can't get enough of it either. Oven roasted chickpeas...the same thing! I have been going strawberry crazy lately! Your snacks...make me hungry for a snack! Nice yoga pose! I laugh at myself all the time doing yoga. I think that is the best part! Have a great day!
Lately I have been hooked on Fage Greek Yogurt with some cocoa powder. YUM!
Thanks for all great snack ideas! I'm terrible with coming up with new things and just tend to grab a slice of toast with pb or whatever is closest.
Great crow pose! I did the JM yoga dvd recently and think I held it for .25 of a second.
Good luck in the 10k!
amazing yoga pose!
good luck on the 10K! I would LOVE to do a 10K through Central Park. My boyfriend is a New Yorker to the bone and we hope to move back there in a few years after I complete law school.
I love all your snacks- you make such healthy choices- even the muffins you eat look healthful.
I am a cracker fiend. I love Kashi the most but I am willing to branch out. I recently discovered Trader Joe's and the Little Bit of Everything cracker is right up my alley!
Have a wonderful day!
Wow, there are some great snack ideas in this post! Thanks for sharing! :)
I'm running in a half marathon in a week in a half...eek!
h crow is sooooo hard! good for you nicole :) yes yoga before a race is the best.......
I am SUCH a snacker so I loved this post! Those muffins look awesome. I love snacking on larabars, fruit, oatmeal, sweet potato fries.. the list goes on!
I need some new snacks!
Your raw chocolate balls sound PERFECT right now!
I love anything with ginger in it. I had a month of eating those Trader Joes soy crackers last summer and then all of a sudden I hated them. They were a weird craving I guess!
Katherine

VERY jealous of your crow! I have been out of the yoga loop recently but am getting back into it. I love your roundup of snacks and wish I was as creative as you!!!
Oh Trader Joe's how I love thee...
A 10K!! You go girl! I played a double-header field hockey game (with no subs) and couldn't walk for DAYS. I need to get running again. It's so invigorating. Thanks for the motivation!
