Hi guys! How was your fourth? I hope you had a great weekend celebrating our country's independence with your family and friends. Did you watch any fireworks? I didn't really besides some I saw people doing at my mom's house. I celebrating by going to the beach, eating good food, and visiting with family and friends. We had a big barbeque at my mom's house that I helped cooked for. I made my typical staples of hummus, guacamole, grilled veggies, and grilled salmon, but more on that tomorrow...
Sarena of the Non-Dairy Queen asked me to host this weeks BSI. BSI stands for Blogger Secret Ingredient. Each week a new host picks an ingredient and anyone (food blogger or not) can submit a recipe. The contests starts on a Monday, and recipes need to be submitted by Sunday night of that week. Then the next day the host chooses a winner and picks someone to host next weeks contest.
It is up to each weeks host to deem what the prize will be.
What are the rules?
1. I pick an ingredient, preferably one that is in season and readily available and not too expensive;
2. I link back to all the other previous weekly hosts;
3. I review all your lovely recipe submissions by Sunday night (July 11th, 2010);
4. I pick a recipe that is my favorite; and
5. I’ll post the winner Monday morning and send the winner a token prize of my choosing.
6. You do not have to have a food blog to particpate
7. You do not have to submit a photograph
8. If you don’t have a blog, you can submit your recipe to me, and i will post your recipe for you!
Here’s the past lovely blog hosts:
Week 85: The Non Dairy Queen - Raspberries
Week 84: Healthy Exposures – Bulgur
After reading through the list and seeing what everyone else has come up with, I decided to pick.... applesauce! I use applesauce almost every week indifferent ways, baking and cooking. I want to see what recipes you use applesauce in! So email me your recipe submissions at Nicole at makinggoodchoicesblog [dot] com. I can't wait to see what you all come up with!
*If anyone would like to host this next week, let me know! Email away!
See you tomorrow with a great recipe for the grill!

and thanks for saying what you said about blogging, life, screentime, etc. I know you just went thru it all and glad you are sounding like youre gonna continue to scale things back, or defintiely not get sucked in any deeper :)
I don't think I've used apple sauce in my cooking! Isn't that weird? I am really interested to see what people do - maybe I'll become an apple sauce convert for life!
