I realized that summer just kind of ended, and I never wrapped anything up.
It’s amazing how time just goes by and you forget to stop and reflect sometimes. Not that coincidental that reflection tends to come on days like this, September 11th. I just can’t help but to be sentimental on this day and to look back on the past 2 months of my life and be grateful.
I treasure summer vacation. It’s a time for me to catch up with family, friends and “me” and to just slow down in general. I have no responsibilities over the summer, its just me and whatever I feel like doing, well within reason of course. As much as I wanted to escape to a tropical island or go on a random shopping spree in Louis Vuitton, I held back and just bought a dress or two or three from JCREW, oh yea and that top from Lululemon.
Over the summer I baked, cooked, ran, chatted, sun bathed, read, walked, core fusioned, soul cycled, Intensati-d, shopped, drove and listened. Listened to music, my friends, family or just the waves at the beach. How could I not love summer?
I had a personal goal to try out as many different exercise/workout classes as I possibly could and I think I way surpassed my goal.
I tried:
SoulCycle (45 minute class, 60 minute class, and Soul Bands)
I did SoulCycle the most, doing it once a week over my 10 week summer. By far that was my favorite class of the summer. I loved not only the workout, but the motivational instructors, the vibe and the music. I wish there was one closer to me because I would be a permanent fixture there (and very poor).
I loved Core Fusion and will continue to do the workout on Yogavibes throughout the school year. I’m sure I will get there every once in awhile because it is that good. Intensati was also another favorite of mine because of the positive affirmations. Every time I left there I left in a WAY better place than I walked in and was sweaty. What’s better than that?
Other things that topped my summer list were seeing Brendan Brazier speak and getting to meet some blog friends at The Bar Method and Exhale Core Fusion. It’s so fun to meet people you connect with on twitter, especially since you have the same hobbies in common.
Then there were all the mini-vacations we took: Jersey Shore, Philadelphia, Newport, the Hamptons, Westerly and multiple trips in the the city. There were bachelorette parties and weddings and hotel stays and get togethers.
It was a spectacular summer and I’m going to miss it, but here’s to a great start to another school year. Obviously I have my fair share of ups and downs, throughout the summer, but mostly it was a time to work on me and focus on the positive. I think I did that and I’ll be ready to do it again next summer. Thanks for staying with me and reading along the way!
On a more serious note, 9 years ago was a very tragic day and as a New Yorker I will never, ever forget that day, 9/11/01. My thoughts and prayers are with all that lost someone.

Your right – summer did fly by and sometimes I do the same as you – forget to reflect on all the good that happened. Even if it’s just a summer – I think I’ve definitely grown as a person, and it sounds like you had tons of great experiences, too. Good and bad shape us, so both are beneficial in their own weird way

It’s a good idea to look back and reflect sometimes, even if it does take something as sad as the anniversary of 9/11 to make us do it. It sounds as though you have had some good times this summner.

It sounds like a busy summer, all fun things though! Intensati sounds like a lot of fun and very motivational. I liked reading about it here and on Missy’s blog.
Next time you’re in Newport,RI email me, I live 40 minutes from there!!
