Hello Sunday! I’m feeling particular cozy at home today, so before going to my at home yoga room (the basement) I figured I’d tell you about the at home workouts I’ve been doing.
At home workouts have always been my friend. When I was teaching I would work out 3-4 times a week at home, depending on my schedule. For awhile I got out of that because the gym is so close to me since I moved, but now that I’m finding myself even busier, I’m getting back to working out at home.
I have DVDs upon DVDs to workout with, I have everything from Core Fusion to Jillian Michaels to Piloxing to Bob Harper. My default workout DVD for a kick butt workout is Bob Harper. I alternate between the Cardio Conditioning and the Pure Burn Super Strength when I want an hour sweaty workout. Both are ridiculous…and awesome at the same time.
If I don’t want to spend a hour working out, I will just do some Body Rock. I love Body Rock because it kicks your butt in a shorter amount of time. I usually take longer than the time they give you because I rest when I need to rest (as in 15 minutes instead of 12). Some of my favorite workouts from Body Rock lately are Glory to the Booty workout and Bringing Sexy Back. They are short, high intensity and tough. You CAN modify though to not make it as intense. I suggest watching the videos through once before you do the workout.
I also will do weights at home based on workouts I find online, from Tone it Up or Jamie Eason. I have 2, 3, 5, 8, 10 and 15 pound weights, along with a 15 pound medicine ball. You really don’t need much to get in a good workout at home. Plus I have my entire body to do body weight workouts with!
Other great workouts:
- Try this Insanity preview from Self Mag for a great workout!
- Fitnessista’s Winter Shape Up
- Tina’s “Have a Ball” Upper Body Circuit
- Angry Trainer’s 10×10 workout
At home workouts are perfect for days you don’t have enough time to travel, OR when you are just plain lazy and don’t want to leave the house…like today. Snow on the ground, can’t run outside and I don’t feel like dealing with crowds at the gym = home workout time.
Today it’s Dave Farmar podcast. So stop making excuses and try one of these workouts!
Did you workout this weekend? What did you do to get your sweat on?

Great post! I like doing workouts at home, but here at school I don’t really have the room or equipment to do so, so I just end up at the gym. At least I’m getting in a workout though right?
Today I plan to do an interval workout on the treadmill…gotta get a good sweat sesh in!

I love Jillian, Bob and Core Fusion. I haven’t tried Bodyrock yet, but I’ve been going through the video and I need to start trying those. Saturday was a rest day for me, but I’m thinking some Jillian Michael’s Shred is in order for today. Have a great one Nicole!

Cool! I don’t have to pay just to go to the gym. You just have to allocate some time for your home work out. How often do you have your home work out and which time of the day is the best time to do it?
Thanks for the healthy tips!

Thanks, Nicole! And its so true that you can get a great workout in even without the gym.

Thanks for the inclusion Nicole! Much appreciated. Angry hugs :/
Fortunately, my gym offers so many fun classes over the weekend that I’m always up for, so I’m always there bright and early! I did just order a set of dance DVDs that I hope will be as fun as our gym’s hip-hop inspired Zumba!
